Things You've Been Dying to Fetch

What kind of behavioral challenges do you specialize in?

We work with a wide range of behavioral challenges, including anxiety and fear, separation anxiety, life changes, daily behavioral challenges with a dog, and basic through advanced manners. Our science-based approach focuses on helping your dog feel safe and confident while providing you with sustainable management strategies for daily life.

Where do you provide your training services?

Canine Behavior Coaching provides professional in-home training throughout Chicago’s North Shore. By working directly in your dog's natural environment, we can address specific behaviors where they occur most frequently and involve the whole family in the coaching process. In specific situations we also recommend remote/virtual sessions, for example in separation anxiety cases where the behavior is context-specific.

What can I expect during a typical behavior session?

A typical session begins with a check-in on recent progress followed by hands-on coaching. We demonstrate force-free techniques and guide you through practice exercises, ensuring you feel confident implementing the customized training plan we’ve developed for your busy household.

Are your training plans tailored to specific dogs?

Yes, every training program is customized for the unique needs of the dog and their family. Our packages focus on clear communication and practical, empathy-based results that fit seamlessly into your household routine and specific living environment.

Our Approach & Philosophy

Is your training truly force-free?

Absolutely. Our methods are rooted in positive reinforcement and modern behavioral science. We never use aversive tools such as prong or e-collars, as building genuine trust and emotional safety is the foundation of our work.

Why do you focus on in-home sessions?

Most behaviors happen where life happens. By working in your home, we observe natural interactions and address challenges in their real environment, creating results that are more relevant and lasting for your family's daily routine.

How do you support both dogs and families?

Training is just as much about the humans as it is about the dog. We coach families on clear communication and manageable protocols, ensuring everyone feels empowered and confident to support their pet's behavioral wellness.

Getting Started

STEP 01

How do I reach out and begin the process?

The best way to reach out is through our online contact form or by emailing us directly. We’ll get back to you within one business day to discuss your dog and schedule a convenient time for an initial behavior consultation and safety assessment.

STEP 02

What information should I share about my dog initially?

Please let us know your dog’s age, breed, and the specific behaviors you’re navigating, such as anxiety, separation anxiety, puppy challenges, introducing a new dog into your home, or fearful behaviors. Sharing a bit about your family’s daily routine and long-term goals helps us tailor our initial coaching plan to fit your household seamlessly.

STEP 03

What can I expect before and after our first session?

Prior to our meeting, you’ll fill out a detailed intake form so we can hit the ground running. We also require proof of vaccination as required by the state of Illinois. Following each session, you’ll receive manageable homework steps to ensure you feel supported and confident as you begin implementing your dog’s behavioral wellness plan.

General Questions

What age dogs do you work with?

We support dogs at every life stage, from 8-week-old puppies beginning their journey to beloved seniors. Behavioral health and wellness are important throughout your dog's entire life.

Do you work with multi-dog households?

Absolutely. We specialize in managing multi-dog household dynamics, helping you resolve tensions or simply streamlining routines so that every pet feels safe, calm, and understood.

How many sessions will my dog need?

Every situation is unique, but most families begin to see progress within 3 to 5 sessions. We prioritize quality behavior coaching to provide you with the tools needed for long-term success. Depending on your dog and severity of the challenge, their environment and our ability to manage it, and how often you and your family are able to practice your homework, session needs vary from one package to multiple.

Training Policies & Expectations

Rescheduling & Cancellation

A minimum of twenty-four (24) hours’ notice is required to cancel or reschedule any session. Failure to provide adequate notice, or failure to attend a scheduled session, will result in forfeiture of that session without refund or rescheduling.

Commitment to Force-Free Methods

All participants are expected to follow our force-free, humane training protocols during and between sessions. The use of aversive tools (e.g., slip leads, prong or e-collars) is not permitted, as we focus on building trust and sustainable behavioral wellness through positive reinforcement.

Safety & Expectations

Every dog is unique, and results are not guaranteed. Training outcomes can vary based on factors like your dog’s emotional state, past experiences, environment, and how consistently you practice at home.

Your involvement is a key part of your dog’s success. Consistent training, management, and follow-through outside of sessions play a major role in progress and long-term results.

Safety is always a top priority and a shared responsibility. We ask that you are open about any history of aggression or behavioral concerns and that you follow all trainer guidance and recommendations to help keep sessions safe and productive for everyone involved.

Payments & Expirations

All services, packages, and sessions provided by Canine Behavior Coaching are non-refundable. No exceptions will be made once payment has been received.
All sessions must be used within ninety (90) days of the original purchase date. Any unused sessions after this period will be forfeited without refund, transfer, or credit.
